You have exchanged emails, been chatting online for a while or even spoke on the phone. You have some sort of a connection online. And finally you agree to meet face to face for the first time.
It can be frightening. You're wondering if the online attraction will still be there after you met in person. Relax!.Try to plan for a short date. If something goes wrong, you can end it when you're supposed to and never to meet again.
However, if it's going great, you can extend it further. Take your own means of transportation. NEVER, never agree to be picked up from your home or work by a person you've only met online. Try to meet in a public place that you both feel comfortable with and inform your family or friends where and with whom you will be, just to be on the safe side.
You may also want to keep this first date to be a sober one so go to a place where alcohol is not readily available. Most importantly, rely on your instincts. If your date's actions or something he/she says make the alarm go off, don't dismiss it. If you feel something is not right, excuse yourself and end the date. Remember, you're under NO OBLIGATION to meet in person or carry through the entire date.
